  • Small sharp tipped scissors. (Like embroidery scissors)
  • Fabric
  • Pellon Wonder under
  • Iron and ironing surface

Print out applique printable template. Click here.

Lay a piece of wonder under with paper side up over top of the printable template.

Trace around all images with a Sharpie marker. You want it to have a thick line to show up well.

I used pellon wonder under. There are other transfers available that will do also.

Lay your wonder under over the wrong side of your fabric. This will end up making a mirror image of your diy appliques.

With the images on the template it will not matter however if you're using a different image or words and this is not desirable you can always use the mirror image on your printer to print and then it will come out right on your applique.

Press wonder under onto your fabric using a hot dry iron. Follow instructions on wonder under. Allow to cool.

It's a good idea to lay a piece of parchment paper over top of your wonder under to protect your iron and iron over top of that.

Once your images are pressed onto the fabric, carefully cut out each image.

Peel the paper backing off of each image. This will leave the bonding on the wrong side of the image.

Lay your appliques onto your fabric, positioning them how you want them.(Bonding side down).

Cover appliques with parchment paper. (To protect your iron).

Press the applique according to directions on wonder under. (about eight seconds each). Again with a dry hot iron.

Remove the parchment paper and that's it! All Done!

You can sew a zigzag or other stitch around all edges of your appliques to give more reinforcement or for decoration.

DIY appliques open up unlimited possibilities in your crafting and sewing projects.
